The available Update 2.4 information outlines a substantial set of changes for World of Tanks. The update includes new vehicles and progression paths as well as a new operation in the Sector Three Personal Missions campaign.
New German heavy-tank branch
Update 2.4 adds a German heavy-tank branch spanning Tiers VIII through XI. The branch begins with the Tier VIII Pz.Kpfw. 55, available from the Tier VI Tiger I for 95,000 XP, and continues through the Versuchspanzer 57, the premium HWK 40, the Kampfpanzer 67, and the Tier XI Pz.Kpfw. Neu.
All vehicles in the branch use the Shell Calibration System. This mechanic allows players to adjust certain shell parameters before firing, with different modes intended for different battlefield conditions. The Tier XI Pz.Kpfw. Neu also has an adjustable fuse and additional loading chambers that can alter shell characteristics and improve penetration.
Five new Tier XI vehicles
Five additional researchable Tier XI vehicles continue existing branches in the research tree. Their characteristics are not final, and they are not available for testing.
- WZ-219: A Chinese light tank researched after the WZ-132-1. Its rangefinder can reveal the positions of concealed targets.
- Ho-Ri Shugo: A Japanese tank destroyer researched after the Ho-Ri 3. It is equipped with a rocket launcher for additional damage.
- Vz. 63P: A Czechoslovak heavy tank researched after the Vz. 55. It uses a two-shell magazine gun and improved fuses.
- BV-111: A Swedish medium tank researched after the UDES 15/16. Its external ammunition-loading module can load high-powered shells when needed.
- CAV mod. 71: An Italian medium tank researched after the Progetto M40 mod. 65. Its accelerated loading mechanism is designed to keep it ready for combat.
Fossa Personal Missions operation
Fossa is the fourth operation added to the Sector Three Personal Missions campaign. It contains 63 tasks, arranged in three chains of 21 tasks each. Each chain is intended for a particular group of vehicle types and roles.
Completing tasks awards rewards including campaign points, which are required to assemble the Tier X German medium tank Fossa VM 68. Campaign points can also be earned through daily and weekly tasks. Completing every task in all three chains finishes the operation with honors and grants additional exclusive rewards, including a 3D style for the Fossa VM 68.
Activating Fossa pauses progress in other campaigns and operations, including Sector Three, while the operation is active. The operation also includes rewards such as the Secret Operations set of 3D objects, decals, an inscription, patches, medals, and a crew member.
Light tanks and client presentation
Update 2.4 reworks the roles of light tanks. It also introduces updated visual and sound effects across the client, alongside the new vehicles and Personal Missions content.
What players can prepare for
Players interested in the new German heavy branch can review the Tiger I route, as the Pz.Kpfw. 55 requires 95,000 XP from that vehicle. Players pursuing the Fossa VM 68 can also plan around the operation’s campaign-point system and its separate progression status.
