Hytale’s Update 6 is scheduled for August 27, 2026, according to ixbt.games. The update’s weekly pre-release notes document changes for players, creators, modders, and plugin developers, including Mod Browser improvements, performance work, bug fixes, and protocol additions.
Hytale Update 6: Mod Browser, protocol changes, and stability fixes
The official Update 6 pre-release patch notes state that the pre-release branch can be enabled through Launcher → Settings → Pre-Release. Part 13, dated August 20, 2026, includes player-facing fixes alongside modder-facing and plugin-development changes.
Player-facing changes in Part 13
Part 13 adds several interaction and performance adjustments. Larger soft blocks, including the Spider Cocoon, can now be shot down, while interaction prompts display all available options for blocks with more than one interaction. The notes also describe improved memory use at high view distances, particularly in worlds with substantial open sky.
Combat and world fixes address a range of gameplay issues. Multi-block objects such as doors and statues should now be struck at the point a player aimed, and area-of-effect attacks should affect the correct areas in negative coordinates. Portal destinations are no longer intended to close prematurely when players move away from a portal device; the worlds remain open and portals reconnect when a player returns within range.
- Trigger Volumes pasted into a world retain their conditions, rejection effects, and group settings.
- The Large Kweebec Chest is treated as a wooden block when broken, making hatchets the most effective tool.
- WorldGen V2 fixes address entity deletion in rotated prefabs and different prefab generation across separate platforms.
- A fix addresses item duplication that could occur in specific circumstances.
- Arrows passing through blocks with smaller hitboxes now perform interactions on the block they impact.
- Invulnerable creatures are no longer affected by projectile knockback, and nearby creatures can again notice actions such as opening chests or interacting with objects.
Mod Browser and interface fixes
Part 13 includes a dedicated set of Mod Browser fixes. The install button is easier to reach on a controller, and thumbstick navigation can reach the browser’s carousels, checkboxes, buttons, and tiles. Installing one mod no longer cancels downloads of other mods; downloads are placed into a queue instead.

Other Mod Browser changes correct the Browse All label, improve navigation with controller trigger buttons, make filters apply through a button press, and address focus behavior while moving between tabs with a thumbstick. Installed-mod update markers now provide a tooltip explaining their meaning.
The update also includes interface, graphics, audio, and localization fixes. These cover item-pickup notifications, sharpness on see-through surfaces, glowing particles, weather-related darkness, low-health music and ambience levels, and text display after server restarts or translation-file errors.
Stability work
The pre-release notes list a crash fix for very large worlds that have been running for a long time while the server reorganizes data. The same process should also be faster. Other stability fixes cover a crash and memory leak when leaving worlds while the sky is loading, memory and GPU resource leaks associated with character-preview menus, and a UI crash involving server interface resets while previews are displayed.
Additional fixes address memory use in main-menu world previews, entity status effects, world map markers, the customization-screen character preview, Machinima scenes, and the Asset Editor.
Networking and plugin-development changes
For modders, the wire protocol gains the SetBlockAnimationSpeeds packet and a ModelAnimationSpeed field on BlockType. The notes state that each packet carries the complete state of one section with a monotonic revision, preventing an out-of-order packet from undoing a newer one. HudComponent also gains a BossBar entry, while the new UpdateBossBar packet supports showing or hiding a bar.
Plugin developers receive changes affecting portal instances, chunk access, projectile interactions, and cameras. Portal devices inside an instance copy now retain the world they opened so a new copy can reconnect to it, although the links do not survive a server restart. BlockChunk no longer exposes several light accessors, getSectionCount, blockCounts, or setNeighbourBlocksTicking.

Block interactions run by a proxy entity are now distance-checked in the same way as player interactions. For projectiles, the notes set this limit at 8 blocks from the affected cell and use the contact cell for the measurement. Projectile physics also records the cell actually touched on both client and server, allowing impact chains to act on that cell.
What players and creators can review
Players using the pre-release branch can review the Part 13 fixes to portals, interactions, rendering, audio, and interface behavior. Mod and plugin developers can examine the documented protocol, API, deprecation, and interaction changes before working with the updated pre-release version.
Update 6 is scheduled for August 27, and ixbt.games reports that the announced update will include a Mod Browser, Hardcore mode, new creative tools, and other features that had not yet been detailed in that report. The official pre-release notes continue to provide the weekly record of changes available for testing.
